HARTFORD — January 05, 2006 — A glass of Champagne, a candlelight dinner for two, a fireside breakfast: when it comes to romance it’s often the little things that mean a lot. There’s also a candlelight dinner showcased by Chateaubriand for two along with a Lover’s Lane Lemon Tart or a Chocolate Seduction for dessert; and a quiet breakfast in the hotel’s cafй the next morning. The 18th century Elias Child House in Woodstock treats February guests to a Valentine Sweetheart Special that includes a bed chamber with fireplace and down quilts dressed with flowers, Champagne and chocolates, a Friday night dinner of hors d’oeurvres and country stew served by the cooking hearth, a Saturday and Sunday morning country breakfast, a discount coupon for Saturday night dining at the nearby Inn at Woodstock Hill and hiking on the 47 acres of grounds followed by a massage or Reiki session. The Toll Gate Hill Inn in Litchfield offers a weekend for two in a beautiful suite with a canopied bed and wood burning fireplace, complemented by a chilled bottle of Champagne, chocolates, a fresh fruit and cheese platter, continental breakfast and a $50 gift certificate to use at the Inn’s historic restaurant. Priced from $400, the package is available through February by calling 860-567-1233. The 38-room Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville celebrates Valentine’s Day with overnight accommodations for two, breakfast and a Valentine’s Day dinner on February 11 (for those who want to celebrate on the weekend before the big day) or February 14 (official Valentine’s Day). With a standard room featuring a king or queen bed, the package is priced at $250 per couple. Call 860-435-2000 for reservations.

The Deacon Timothy Pratt B&B Inn in Old Saybrook welcomes the romantically inclined with a Bed, Breakfast and Sleigh Ride package featuring two nights’ accommodations with a fireplace and Jacuzzi tub, a candlelight, fireside breakfast and an hour sleigh ride, snow permitting. The package is priced from $350 and may be booked by calling 860-395-1229.

Centennial Inn Suites in Farmington celebrates Valentine’s Day with a Romantic Escape Package. Priced from $129 per night, the package includes a spacious Centennial Studio suite with fireplace, a complimentary bottle of wine, executive breakfast, cookies and coffee upon arrival, free movie rentals and popcorn and a 10 percent discount for a dinner at a local restaurant. The Wallingford Victorian B&B welcomes special guests for personal celebrations that can include anything from Valentine’s Day to anniversaries and birthdays. The package includes three-room suite accommodations with a corner whirlpool tub, flowers and fresh fruit or a cake. All is included in the regular room rate by calling 203-269-4492.

The Romance Weekend Special at the Inn at Lower Farm B&B in North Stonington begins with two nights’ accommodations in a guestroom with fireplace and four poster bed where guests are greeted with a complimentary basket of chocolates and bottle of wine.
