46. Brushes with Genius
- First stop on this National Millenium Trail is the Bruce Museum of Arts & Sciences in Greenwich (I-95 Exit 3.) See fine impressionist art and a gem of a collection of great rocks and minerals.
- Weir Farm is a National Historic Site in Wilton, Rte.7 to Rte.102, that housed the famous Impressionist painter, J. Alden Weir. You can fish, picnic and walk nature trails.
- Take the scenic Merritt Parkway to downtown New Haven and the Yale University Art Gallery. It houses more than 85,000 treasures including paintings by Van Gogh, Monet and others. Wander toward the town green and choose from fabulous restaurants.
- Take a side trip up I-91 north to Rte. 9 north to I-84 east to Exit 35 and the New Britain Museum of American Art. It has an outstanding collection that includes works by Benton, Cassatt, Church, Sargent, Whistler and Wyeth.
